Directed by Walter Salles (Oscar Nominated "Central Station" and the Oscar-winning "The Motorcycle Diaries"), and based on Marcelo Rubens Paiva's memoir, the film follows Eunice Paiva, played by Fernanda Torres and Fernanda Montenegro, whose life is shattered by Brazil's military dictatorship when her husband, dissident politician Rubens Paiva (Selton Mello), is abducted.
Eunice endures imprisonment and transforms into a passionate activist and lawyer, exposing the regime's brutal atrocities. Through Salles’ direction, the film intertwines personal struggles with political realities, highlighting a crucial yet overlooked chapter in Brazilian history.
"I'm Still Here" has already garnered attention, becoming the highest-grossing Brazilian film since the pandemic. Despite attempts at boycott by far-right groups, it remains a poignant tribute to resilience and courage in the face of tyranny.
