Filmed in the glorious scenery of Patagonia, Southern Argentina, this film premiered at the 2010 Seattle International Film Festival.
A Welsh-Argentine drama based in Y Wladfa, the Welsh speaking community in Patagonia, it was the British entry for Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards of 2012.
The film tells two parallel stories – one of young Welsh couple Gwen and Rhys (Nia Roberts and Matthew Gravelle) who travel to Patagonia where Rhys is commissioned to photograph the Welsh churches in the area, and meet local guide Mateo (Matthew Rhys). Simultaneously, Cerys (Marta Lubos), an elderly Welsh Argentinean woman, decides to travel to Wales to search for her roots.
