Married at a young age to the much older Duke of Devonshire (Ralph Fiennes), Georgiana becomes a fashion icon and darling of the common people. Determined to become a major player in affairs of state, she rises to the forefront of the Whig Party and helps usher in reform in late-1700s England.
But, trapped in an unhappy triangle with the Duke and his mistress (Hayley Atwell), it seems the one thing she cannot do is win the heart of her husband and soon her search for love becomes increasingly desperate.
